I captured this photograph while hiking in the Eldorado National Forest, west of Hope Valley, on Highway 88 in California during mid-summer.  The flowers in this location are waist-high and brilliant in color.  As you can see there is a patch or two of snow remaining on the nearby granite bowl, offering more local color.
